Our Background

Nakapachu Foundation was founded by Miss Nanteza Resty, popularly known by her stage name Nakapachu, in 2019, but it was formally registered in 2021. Resty joined the Jinja-based NBS Radio station in 2011 as a presenter on several community-based programs, including "Ensi Ne Byayo." These programs made her appreciate the challenges faced by marginalized people in the communities, such as sexual and gender-based violence, land conflicts, neglected and abandoned children, discrimination, poor access to health, education, and other social services. She later felt compelled to find lasting solutions to these challenges. Initially, during talk shows, she requested her listeners to offer advice and any form of financial and material assistance to those in need. The radio listeners responded positively to her endless requests to support the marginalized, and it is estimated that at least 10,000 people were supported through these talk show programs and outreaches. The talk shows brought Resty closer to the marginalized, making her very popular and a household name for the needy. To appreciate her tireless efforts to serve the people, Resty was elected Mayor of Njeru Town Council, and in 2016, she was elected Mayor of Njeru Central Division. In 2021, she was vying for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Buikwe district but was robbed of her victory.

As the activities and deliberations to help the marginalized continued, the number of people visiting her for support overwhelmed both the management of the radio station and the well-wishers of the Nakapachu Foundation. By January 2021, the number of people visiting her for support had peaked to over 250 a week. At this point, Nakapachu decided to find a way of generating income to support her activities. However, the income generated was not sufficient to meet the needs of the marginalized who kept enrolling under her care. She therefore decided to formalize the Nakapachu Foundation, through which she hoped she could assist the ever-increasing number of marginalized people seeking her support. NAKAPACHU FOUNDATION was accordingly formally registered in January 2021.
